I Am: the True Vine
On Christmas Day, many are celebrating the birth of Christ, but is that what the Lord intended for us to celebrate? In this sermon we look at a birth that surprised the world, a life that changed the world, and a death that saved the world. Celebrating "all the above" is the best way to stay connected to the True Vine of Jesus Christ. Aaron Baker 12/25/16 Text: Ephesians 1:7 I Am: the True Vine
Peter is a case-study of the ups-and-downs of discipleship. One minute, Peter was saying he would NEVER betray the Lord and would even die with him. The next minute, he was denying he ever knew the Lord. Life is full of ups-and-downs. What is it going to take to stay connected to the True Vine, which is Jesus Christ? Having control of your emotions, your body, and your future. Listen here to learn more! Aaron Baker John 18:15-17, 25-27 12/18/16 I Am: the True Vine
What does being connected to Jesus look like? An illustration of the vine, branches and fruit is used by Jesus to show how we must remain connected to Christ. But what motivates us when we fail? This sermon looks at what motivates us to move forward in our faith, remaining connected to the True Vine of Jesus Christ. Our motivation: Love full circle. Listen to learn more... Aaron Baker John 15:9-14 12/11/16 I Am: the Way, the Truth, and the Life
Jesus made specific promises to the Apostles regarding the Holy Spirit. Do those promises apply to us today? Do Christians have the Holy Spirit today? Listen here to learn more about the role of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Christians today. Aaron Baker John 14:15-18 11/27/16 I Am: Thankful for the Way
Paul shows us 5 reasons we have to be thankful. With this time of year shifting our focus towards Thanksgiving, shouldn't we always be thankful? Listen here to be reminded of 5 blessings we have which come from being "in Christ" Aaron Baker Colossians 1:9-16 11/20/16 I Am: The Way, the Truth, and the Life
Jesus did not say He was "a" way, "a" truth, or "a" life. He is "THE" way, truth, and life. This sermon examines Jesus' statements and seeks to determine what that means to us today. Such a powerful statement of exclusiveness by Jesus deserves our attention. Listen here... Aaron Baker Acts 17:22-31 11/13/16 "Almost"
Guest speaker today was one of our very own: Ben McDonald. Aaron was out of town, but Ben did a fantastic job of reminding us as Christians the tragedy of "Almost". I "almost" became a Christian. I "almost" loved Christ. He "almost" went to the cross for me. In the end, "almost" doesn't cut it! Are you giving God your all, or "almost" Ben McDonald 11/6/16 I Am: The Resurrection and the Life
If we want to hear those words, "Well done, good and faithful servant," what is it going to take? Listen here to learn about your involvement in the resurrection at the last day and how to be part of the resurrection of the righteous. Aaron Baker Romans 14:7-9 10/30/16 I Am: The Resurrection and the Life
How do you react to tough topics found in the Scriptures? Thomas Jefferson in his "Jefferson Bible" reacted by taking scissors to the parts of Scripture he did not like. He cut out almost all of the miracles, including the resurrection of Christ. He left the savior in the grave. A dead savior is no savior at all. Listen here to discover more about how some people react to the resurrection. How do you react to it? Aaron Baker John 12:9-11 10/16/16 I Am: The Resurrection and the Life
Talk is cheap; action convinces. In an epic move to prove He is the Son of God, Jesus does more than say He has power over eternal life, he proves it by raising Lazarus from the dead. Listen here to understand how Jesus has power over death, over life, and recognizing His power should motivate us into action. Aaron Baker John 11:1-16 10/2/16 I Am: The Good Shepherd
In examining Jesus as our Good Shepherd, we do well to look at God's explanation of what a shepherd looks like. This week we dive into Psalm 23, one of the best loved chapters in all the Bible to discover how Jesus truly is our Good Shepherd. Aaron Baker Psalm 23 9/25/16 I Am: The Good Shepherd
Why do you follow Jesus? What is it that motivates you to be a Christian? To live the Christian way? To fight the good fight? To run and not grow weary? This morning, Aaron explains why Jesus is HIS Good Shepherd Aaron Baker John 10:11-21 9/18/16 I Am: The Door
There are three aspects to Jesus' statements that He is the Door of the Sheepfold. In this section of Scripture Jesus tells us about the door, the sheep, and the shepherd. The Door is described as a point of access and protection. How one enters the door matters...either you are a sheep or a thief. Listen here to learn more! Aaron Baker John 10:1-10 9/4/16 I Am: The Light of the World
Light has several unique characteristics. This sermon looks at the idea that light 1) Exposes 2) Can fade 3) Can be reflected, and 4) Can be duplicated. Listen here to discover more about Jesus as the Light of the World. Aaron Baker John 3:19, 20 8/28/16 I Am:the Light of the World
Twice Jesus calls himself the Light of the world (Jn 8:12; 9:5). Light exposes faults, and lights our path. Jesus is the one sent by God to show us our way. Jesus encounters people who think they know the way, but really were blind. Listen to this sermon examining how a blind man could see, and how the seeing were blind. Aaron Baker John 9:1-7 8/14/16 Guest Speaker: Caleb Rutherford
Our Messages today were brought by Caleb Rutherford. Caleb is a student at the Memphis School of Preaching and has just completed his first year in the program. Foristell supports Caleb and encourages all preachers in their efforts. Caleb Rutherford 8/7/16 I Am: Prepared
Several Scribes and Pharisees were looking for the Messiah in Jesus' day, but did not want to recognize Jesus AS the Messiah. They claimed to be looking for the Messiah, but were unprepared when He came onto the scene. Are we prepared for Jesus? If we stood before Him right now, would we be prepared? Aaron Baker 7/31/16 John 8:56-59 I Am: Prepared
We will be attacked by Satan. He wants us to fall in our faith and give in to sin. We are in a battle, and our souls are at stake. Though the battle is intense and still rages, God has not left us unprepared. Rather, God has provided us armor which we can put on to defeat Satan. Aaron Baker 7/24/16 Ephesians 6:10-20 I Am: Prepared
Ezra was successful in God's service because he prepared his heart to be useful to God. Do we prepare our hearts? Do we prepare ourselves at all for service to God? Are you prepared to meet God? Aaron Baker 7/10/16 Ezra 7:10 I Am: Free
What better example can we look at for the topic of freedom, than those who yearned for it, struggled for it, and finally attained it? The people of Israel cried out to God for help from physical bondage. God helped them, even though their freedom at times seemed like it was slipping through their fingers. Listen to learn about the discouragements and restoration that God provides that we might attain freedom. Aaron Baker 6/12/16 I Am: Free
Christ came and died so we could have freedom. Not freedom from debt, anger, suffering or health problems. He came and died so that in spite of the problems and challenges we face, we could have spiritual freedom. Aaron Baker 5/29/16 This World is Not My Home - Sun 1pm

Speaker: Andrew Hitchcock 5/18/16 I Am: His - Bought with a Price
You are not your own. You have been bought with a price. We enjoy living for ourselves, doing what we want to do. We feel we owe it to ourselves to be happy, and live for the moment. YOLO, right?!? We need to remember that sin has a price. There must be a payment, which was paid by Jesus. Because He made this payment for us, He bought us. Therefore, we are not our own. We are HIS! Text: 1 Cor 6:12-20 Aaron Baker 5/16/16 I Am: His
Happy Mother's Day! Did you know the deepest kind of love is a self-sacrificing love? Mothers exhibit this kind of love daily. They cook food when everybody else is tired. They get kids off to school, when they would rather sleep in. Mothers do so much! This sermon looks at Mary, the mother of Jesus and discovers how she had a deep, self-sacrificing love and what motivated her to serve God in as the mother of the Savior of the world. Aaron Baker 5/8/16 Text: Luke 1:46-55 I Am: Dependent Upon God
There are some hard sayings in the Bible. Jesus even said some hard sayings. In this section of Scripture, Jesus recognizes that His sayings are hard, yet does not apologize for His sayings. He does not track down those that left and beg them to return. His Word is able to stand on its own. Will we stand with Jesus and His Word? Aaron Baker 4/24/16 John 6:59-69 I Am: Dependent Upon God
Jesus states, "I Am the Bread of Life". You put food every day into your body. Do you put Jesus every day into your life? Does he influence your habits? Your thoughts? Your routine? Aaron Baker John 6:25-40 4/17/16 I Am: Dependent Upon God
Following the feeding of the 5,000 Jesus sends his disciples by boat across the Sea of Galilee. A storm arises and Jesus walks on the water out to the disciples to be with them. He calms the storm, and their fears. Through these two events the disciples were supposed to learn dependency upon God by grasping the significance of feeding the 5,000 and that understanding should have translated into faith while on the Sea in the storm. However, the disciples failed. Learn to be dependent upon God. Listen here to learn more! Aaron Baker John 6:15-21 4/10/16 I Am: Dependent Upon God
We know the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000. You may be able to tell the events by heart. Yet, what is the lesson Jesus is trying to teach His disciples? Dependence upon God! Listen here to discover how the disciples failed the test, yet learned how to become more dependent upon Jesus each day. Aaron Baker John 6:1-14 4/3/16 I Am: Honoring God through the Resurrection
Did you know Easter only occurs in the Bible in the KJV translation of Acts 12:4? Easter is an effort to focus our minds on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but should we only think about His resurrection once a year? This sermon presents 4 ways that we can bring honor to God through the resurrection. Aaron Baker Matthew 28:1-7 3/27/16 I Am: Honoring God
Who was Jesus? Just a good guy? Perhaps a prophet? Possibly the Christ, the Messiah, the Chosen One of God? John 5 gives us several witnesses that Jesus calls to His side to show why he can be trusted, valued, and honored. Unfortunately, in spite of all the evidence, some people are still unwilling to come to Jesus. Are you? Aaron Baker John 5:31-47 3/13/16 I Am: Honoring God
To "honor" means, "to value." By looking at what people value, you can see what they honor, and what they view as important in their lives. Do I honor God? If so, how? This sermon looks at the idea that we must give honor to God. We can give honor to God vertically (praise and worship to Him), horizontally (by the way we treat those around us, internally (by the way we think), and externally (by the way we act). Do I seek to utilize all these areas of my life to give honor to God? Aaron Baker John 5:23 3/6/16 I Am: Trusting
The pool of Bethesda. It should have been a place of mercy (the name Bethesda means, house of mercy) and instead it was a place of despair for many sick and lame people. This encounter with Jesus and the sick man shows us that Jesus can help us overcome anything that holds us back. The sick man was putting his trust in a myth that surrounded the pool and he hoped that a mysterious angel would "stir" the waters and that if, by chance, he could somehow get into the water, he would be healed. He believed an followed the myth, but it failed to produce anything in his life. So many people buy into myths these days, have you? Aaron Baker John 5:1-15 2/28/16 I Am: Trusting
Do I really trust God? Today we look at trust as an acronym. T - Totally R - Relying U - Upon S - Spiritual T - Truths What do I trust as the basis for my life and the decisions I make? Hopefully we base our lives upon God's revealed spiritual truths found in His Word. Do I really trust God? What does it take to trust God? Listen here to find out... Aaron Baker 2/7/16 Proverbs 3:5, 6 I Am: Overcoming the Silence
Discouragement will come. Fear causes us to clam up, and be quiet. Opposition can bring the Lord's work to a screeching halt. So how can we go from DIScouragement to ENcouragement? Studying times in Paul's life when he was discouraged and recognizing how he gained encouragement provides the springboard for this lesson. Listen here to be encouraged to live your life daily for God! Aaron Baker 1/31/16 Acts 18:4-11 I Am: Breaking the Silence
Jesus' encounter with the woman at the well (John 4) broke all kinds of boundaries. Sometimes we need to break the boundaries that society sets in order to get the message of Jesus out into the hurting hearts that need it the most. Today's sermon examines the boundaries broken by Jesus. Aaron Baker 1/24/16 John 4 I Am: Silence
Common sense is not so common. I know a lot of people that are smart, but wisdom (the application of knowledge) is hard to come by. There are times when we should be wise enough to know when to be silent, and when we should speak up. Today's sermon looks at a man who would not be silent. Aaron Baker 1/17/16 Matthew 20:29-34 I Am: Silence
In your Bible, you probably have a blank page between where the Old Testament ends and the New Testament begins. In your Bible it is most likely one page. In history, this one page covers 400 years. According to Amos, it was 400 years of silence from God. A time when people were searching for the Messiah, eager for Him to come. God broke His silence by announcing to the world two births: John's and Jesus'. Silence can be so powerful. Do we recognize that God's silence in planning this wonderful event is reason for us to rejoice? Aaron Baker 1/10/16 John 4:25, 26 I Am Statements of Jesus
If you love someone, don't you want to know more about them? Absolutely! If we say we love Jesus, we should want to know as much about Him as we can. Enter Jesus' "I Am" statements from the book of John. Through these statements, Jesus is telling us something about Himself. We need to look at and re-imagine these statements and learn what Jesus wants us to know about Him. Ultimately, these statements force us to choose. We are either "For Christ" or "Against Him". Which side are you on? Aaron Baker 1/3/16 John 20:30-31 |
Emerging Church_Part 2
Looking at some key beliefs of the "Emerging church" movement, and discovering how to answer some of their beliefs. Aaron Baker 3/13/16 **Sorry, part 1 did not get recorded. If you need PPT slides of this presentation, just email me** [email protected] Challenge of Divorce and Blended Families
Divorce is seen everywhere in our culture. From the TV show, "Brady Bunch" to the newest Adam Sandler movie, "Blended" we are surrounded by divorce and blended families. This sermon does NOT examine the scriptural nature of divorce and remarriage, however it does look at divorce and blended families and seeks to reach out to these often-hurt and overlooked souls. Aaron Baker 2/28/16 Bible Words in Bible Ways: Christian...Examples of Conversion (pt 2)
How did people in the Scriptures go from being lost, to being saved? How did they go from having no hope, to rejoicing? Today we continue our study of examples of people in the book of Acts being converted to Christ. Why does this matter? Because if there is some sort of pattern we see, then it guides us in how people become Christians today! The process is important. Listen and lets study God's word together... Bible Words in Bible Ways: Christian...Examples of Conversion (pt 1)
The process is important! I have a drill, does that make me a dentist? I have a razor blade and scrubs, does that make me a doctor? Nope! Why? Because the process of becoming a dentist and a doctor are important. Likewise, the process of becoming a Christian is important. Just because I say I'm a Christian, am I? How did people in Bible times become Christians? This sermon examines examples of lost souls becoming saved souls. Let's study together and see when they went from "lost" to "saved". Can't we follow that pattern today? Aaron Baker 1/31/16 Bible Words in Bible Ways: Christian
Who is a Christian? How do you know they are a Christian? What did they do to become a Christian? So often we confuse the qualities of a Christian (sharing, caring, giving) with the process of becoming a Christian that we think the two are one and the same. This suggests that if I share, care, and give, then I am a Christian. However, those are the qualities of a Christian, but says nothing of the process one needs to go through to become a Christian. Listen here to discover how the Bible explains the word, Christian. Aaron Baker 1/17/16 Acts 11:26 Bible Words in Bible Ways: Baptism
What is baptism? Today people call sprinkling, pouring and immersion all a "baptism" but, how does the Bible use that word. If I have been sprinkled, have I been "baptized"? Listen to learn how the Bible defines the word, baptism. Aaron Baker 1/10/16 Colossians 2:12-14 Bible Words in Bible Ways: Pastor
Do names matter? Try calling your wife by a different name and see how she reacts! Words and names do matter. We should try to do our best to use Bible words in Bible ways so we can know what these words mean. For example, it is popular today to call the preacher, the pastor. Is the preacher really the pastor? Listen here to find out who is the pastor. Aaron Baker 1/03/16 Ephesians 4:11 |
