Won by the Next Chapter
Acts 28 ends rather abruptly with Paul still in prison. We want to know what happens next! We want the next chapter! Perhaps we need to think of it as the chapter where the Gospel continues to spread throughout the world. It still has the power and opportunity to spread in our community, our town, and our city. What will your next chapter of your life say? This is the chance to start over, and write that chapter. What will yours say?

Won by Listening to God
How can we grow our faith, advance our ministry, and deepen our love for others if we are unwilling to listen to God? Sure would be difficult to do these without listening to God, wouldn't it?!?!
In this sermon, we find Paul on his way to Rome. He has appealed to Caesar, and to Caesar he is going. Along the way, things didn't go as planned. In fact, there was a great storm that thretened the lives of all 276 people on board. Yet, God (through his messengers: an angel and Paul) told them how they could be saved. The challenge is...will they listen?
Will I listen when God communicates what is best for me in my life? Listen here or watch the video to learn more about learning to listen to God through Paul's eyes

Won by Resurrection
Are you ready to be done with 2020? Some have said that ringing in the New Year will be less about saying hello to 2021 and more about saying, "GOOD RIDDANCE!" to 2020. No matter how this life is turning out, we can look forward to the resurrection where, "God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" (Revelation 21:3, 4). The dawn of that new day will be glorious, and worth the wait!
Paul made the fact of the resurrection a central part of his preaching and the foundation of his faith. Watch below or listen as we look at Paul in prison, yet preaching about the resurrection.

Won by Faith Under Fire
Many times we think of our faith being under fire as some "big event", as if we think that we might be called before a judge and jury and have to defend our faith. For this "big event" we resolve in our hearts to remain faithful to our Lord, to never waiver in our faith, and to be an encouragement to nay-sayers. However, it doesn't take some "big event" to put our faith under fire. Everyday life can test and try your faith!
In this sermon, we look at Paul and how he did defend his faith in a "big event" when called before Felix. But, the challenge is issued to be prepared to defend our faith daily against temptation and to stand firm for the Lord.

So...this is probably the most difficult part of Christianity. Making God's will, my will. Too often we want God to do what WE want, instead of us doing what HE wants. There lies the challenge, to make His will, my will.

We can do much with our hands! We can help children cross the road. We can assist the elderly in putting groceries away in the pantry. We can share our meals with others. Our hands can also be used to hurt or hinder. The way we use our hands matters!
This sermon looks at Paul on his way to Jerusalem as he takes time to meet with the elders of the church in Ephesus. He takes time to remind them how he worked with his hands, in hopes of them working with their hands to help the church be strong. View the video of the sermon to learn more. How well do we "see others"? From the postman, to the janitor, to the truck driver delivering your Amazon packages...do we "see people"? Paul was a very busy person. He was in a rush to get to Jerusalem by a certain time. Won Without Fear
There are just some things that can strike fear into our hearts... Where our soul will spend eternity does not have to be one of them!
Fear causes us to not think rationally at times and to overlook some critical information. Even the Apostle Paul was afraid at times. Fear caused him to focus too much on the past and worry too much about the present, which crippled his future. Fear caused Paul to overlook the Lord's work, to overlook his friends, and to overlook the growth that was happening around him. All he could see, was fear! That does not need to be you.

Movement is necessary in your faith. We can not be stagnant in our faith. If our faith is not growing, then it is shrinking. Your faith must move forward!

Won by Compromise
No, we are not talking about compromising our doctrine, our morals, or our character. Some Jewish Christians were demanding that new Christians must be circumcised in order to be saved. However, the gospel never included that as a requirement for salvation. So, the issue was clarified by the Holy Spirit and communicated through the Apostles who met in Jerusalem to look into this issue. The conclusion to the matter saw the doctrine about being salvation being clarified: that nothing additional was added in order to be saved. But, compromise was also on the docket. Those with a Jewish background gave up their stance on circumcision, and those with a Gentile background were reminded to give up areas which can offend their Jewish brothers. If only we could reach more love into the world and care more about the faith of others!

What has the power to change our situation, and our outlook on life? Prayer! Peter was in prison, and prayer was the turning point to his situation. His outlook changed to the point that he could lay down and sleep in prison, even though death loomed darkly over him.

If we could see ourselves and others as God sees, it would shape and change us dramatically! This sermon shows us how Peter had to learn that Cornelius (and the Gentiles) are part of God's plan. God does not play favorites. All can be saved! All can have access to the Father through Christ! That's great news! Watch the video below or listen to the audio here to learn more.

Won by Broken Walls
Some walls are built to keep people out, others are built to keep people in. We build some walls in our lives to protect ourselves or the ones we love. Some walls need to exist, but others need to be torn down. Anger, hatred, racism...those are walls we must tear down. In Christ, we can tear down walls that don't need to be there and truly find peace. Listen to this lesson to learn more.

Won by a Godly Church
As we read through the book of Acts, we come to a place where we see the church in a season of peace. This is a glimpse of a godly church. What would it take for us to be a godly church? This sermon takes a look at how a godly church is described in the book of Acts and shows us what we can learn and put to use in our lives today!

Won by a Great Message
After becoming a Christian, Saul (Paul) was motivated by a great message. He was motivated to go into areas around Damascus and into Arabia to preach about Christ. Though he once tried to destroy followers of Christ, he is now meeting with them. What a drastic change! Where did Saul get this message he preached? Not from man! Not from stories passed down over generations! He didn't make it up! Saul's message came directly from God. Therefore...we can trust it today!
Listen here to learn more about Saul's message and its origin

Won by the Road to Damascus
This sermon looks at Saul on the road to Damascus. He comes face-to-face with Jesus. It was a long and difficult journey that ended differently than it began. Saul (later known as Paul) made the journey from lost, to saved...from angry sinner to forgiven saint. Listen or watch to learn more about this great journey to Damascus.

Won by Being Willing
Willingness is an important attribute. If we are unwilling to love again, will we ever find love? If we are unwilling to forgive, will we be forgiven ourselves? If we have failed and are unwilling to try again, will we ever find success or satisfaction in our lives?
This sermon takes a look at Philip who was willing to be used by God. He preached in Samaria. He preached to an Ethipian Eunuch. Bottom line, he was willing! Listen here to help develop the attitude of willingness.

Won by Second Chances
Can you imagine if we only got ONE chance with God? Who could make it? Nobody! God is a God of second chances, and for that I am eternally grateful. This sermon encourages us to look at Simon in Acts 8 and see how he became a Christian, but quickly messed up. Then, we see him receive a second chance. Aren't we thankful for second chances!

Won by Looking Up
When we are born, we start of very small but we grow. We learn to look up to mom and dad, grandma and grandpa. We hold their hands when crossing the road. We look up to them because they are bigger, taller, and wiser. Perhaps starting off small and growing up reminds us to continue to "Look up" in life ultimately to look towards God.
This sermon looks at Stephen's life and death and the confidence he had in death. We look at our first introduction of a man named Saul, who will have a larger role in the book of Acts as we continue to study through the book. Listen here for reasons why we should continue to Look Up to God for help.

Won by Listening
Testing...testing...1, 2, 3. Are you listening? Most of the communication failures happen because someone simply was not listening. If you don't believe that...just ask your spouse.
This week we take a look at Stephen's sermon as he reviews Jewish history in Acts 7. God's people had a history of rejecting His choice for their life. In the end, Jesus is God's choice and the audience didn't want to hear it. Let's make sure we learn from their mistakes and respect God's choices.

Won by Being Filled
What will you choose to fill your life? Will you allow anger, hate, or fear to rule? Coronavirus frenzy is running rampant. Will fear of the virus control your life? How blessed we are when God's ways become our ways! This sermon compares the church (Ac 4:31) being filled by the Holy Spirit, with Ananias (5:3) allowing Satan to fill his heart. What we fill our heart with matters!

When moments of need meet moments of generosity, permanent impressions are made. Whether you find your self as the 'giver' or the 'receiver' in those situations, generosity is so critical to meet real needs. This lesson looks at the generosity which was a great quality of the early church. Listen here to learn more!

Won by Not Giving Up
Peter and John did not give up. Though threatened, commanded, and intimidated, these two proclaimers of God's word would not stop speaking. So often, we give up too easily. May this lesson encourage us to never give up in life, in our faith, in our love of God, and in our service to Him.

Won by His Name
The name of Jesus is above any and all names. Peter's sermon in Acts 3 highlights the importance of Jesus, and the importance of His name. So...what's in a name? Shakespeare suggests that any name for a rose will do, for it smells just as sweet. But...will any name for a savior do? This sermon shows what's in a name and how only through the name of Christ are we saved!

Won by Bearing our Baggage
In Acts 3, there was a man who no doubt felt like "baggage". He had to be carried daily in order to beg for money. Peter and John meet him and give him something better than money...hope! How often do we feel like "baggage" or the "third wheel"? Also, how often do we carry around baggage that we should have gotten rid of long ago? This sermon shows us that Christ cares about us, and is willing to carry us and our baggage.

Won by Wonderful Works of God
The Apostles of Jesus began speaking new languages which they had never studied. In essence, they were speaking the native language of many people for the first time. What did they talk about? What would you talk about if you could tell someone about Jesus in their own native language? This sermon shows us how the Apostles spoke about the wonderful works of God. Won by NO Broken Promises
In Acts chapter 2, there are several promises from God that are mentioned. When we reflect upon God's promises and see through Scriptures that God has NEVER broken a single promise, that should become a growth point for our faith. Listen here to learn more about God's unbroken promises.

Won by Trust
In Acts 1 we read about Jesus ascending into heaven. The Apostles are standing around watching this event, when they are called back to reality because they were standing around, looking up into heaven. Unfortunately, that's how most people spend their religious life...standing around, looking for Jesus. This sermon takes a look at why some people 'stand around' instead of getting to work for the Lord.

Won by Writing
It has been said that writing is the revealing of the mind to the reader. This is exactly what God has done for us as He gives us the Bible, His word! The book of Acts is our theme for this year and we will see how Luke, the author of Acts, has written to communicate the mind of God to us. At the end of the day, we are writing the next chapter of our lives. Will it be a chapter that includes Christ? Will it be a chapter that is pleasing to God? Let's write that chapter together!
